This 1957 Ole Miss yearbook is in very good condition. T are 335 pages plus an advertising section. Sports fans will enjoy the photos and writeups on the schools various teams. One scan shows the cheerleaders including a young Thad Cochran who has had some success in politics as a US Senator. Another scan shows Joe Gibbon who led the SEC in scoring in basketball and helped pitch and hit the Ole Miss baseball team to their first trip to the College World Series in Omaha. He would go on to be a star pitcher in the Major Leagues with the Pirates, Giants, and Reds. Another scan shows future NFL Hall of Famer Gene Hickerson throwing a block for Paige Cothren in the Rebels 13-7 victory over State in the Egg Bowl. Pictured above Gene in the scan is his brother Willie. Other players noted who would play professionally included: Eddie Crawford(also voted Colonel Rebel), Ray Brown, Jackie Simpson, Billy Yelverton, Billy Lott, Milton Crain, Hanson Churchwell. Other pictures noted but not scanned include Chancellor Robert Khayat as a member of the freshmen football team and sophomore beauty Mary Ann Mobley who would win the 1959 Miss America.
