MODEL, YEAR, FEATURES: Loewe Opta Bella Luxus Model 05711W tube radio dates to 1958. Attractive looking German set has features common to many of the popular sets of that era including pushbutton selection of bands, dual sliderule tuning scales, and a magic eye tuning tube to indicate signal strength. Sliderule dial is beautifully lit from its pilot lights, and one photo attempts to capture it. Radio works, but will need attention to work better, and cabinet has minor finish flaws; a little blue paint on the top, I scraped it with my fingernail and it flaked so I bet it can be cleaned off, I was too worried about scratching the cabinet so I didn't try to clean it, it will still displays beautifully. CONDITION, REFURBISHING, PERFORMANCE: Overall finish on wooden cabinet is fine and glossy, there’s no blistering, chipping, or peeling. No cracks on wooden cabinet nor on the attractive Bakelite trim or pushbuttons. Grill cloth has a couple of spots and a small freyed area seen in photos. Glass dial scale looking pristine with perfect graphics and numerals. I was able to receive our local AM stations with nice fidelity, but not at great volume. FM came in very weak along with Shortwave stations, and there might be an antenna or weak tube issue that is preventing full spec performance. All pushbuttons function, latch properly, and the
