Up for auction is a Syracuse China Company, Formally the Onondaga Pottery Company (O.P. Co.) of Syracuse, New York, (1841 to Present), Restaurant Ware Serving Bowl / Relish Dish with their Millbrook Pattern, Manufactured in 1958 and in Mint Condition. This wonderful serving bowl has absolutely no chips or cracks of any kind and t is no glaze crazing either. T are no stains on this piece and the only issue it does have are the minor surface scratches which is normal for almost all restaurant ware. This bowl is 9 3/4 inches long by 4 5/8 inches wide and it is 1 1/8 inches tall. The base rim of this dish is 7 3/4 inches by 2 7/8 inches and this piece weighs 15 ounces. The pattern on this dish is called Millbrook and it is just one of many air brushed patterns by Syracuse China that were made for commmercial trade use. These wares were unavailable to the retail market, but the bread and butter of Syracuse China has always been commercial dinnerware and their main concentration. They did sell fine china for the retail customer to purchase for nearly 100 years, but the last of the retail china was discontinued in 1970. Syracuse China's origins can be traced back to 1841, but the Syracuse name was not used until around 1879 and this was a line name for the Onondaga Pottery Comapny that was formed in 1871.
