THIS IS A RARE 1959 FENTON PLUM OPALESCENT HOBNAIL CANDLE BOWL IN PERFECT CONDITION! This dramatic beauty was the only one we were able to get a hold of for our personal collection in 40 plus years of collecting antique art glass. It is gorgeous and 8 inches in diameter and about 3 1/2 inches tall. According to a number of sources including John Walk (it is shown in his The Big Book of Fenton guide) that Plum was considered a mistake as Fenton in the 1950's tried to come up with a formulation of cranberry opalescent glass. They shelved the relatively few pieces they made and didn't release them at first. They finally decided to clear them out and the few remaining were sent out to sell. This is one of these rare pieces. We thank you for following our auctions each week as we clear out over 40 plus years of collecting antique and estate art glass and other scarce collectibles, particularly Disney for retirement and to pay health costs.. we will be listing an extensive collection of Fenton Opalescent Hobnail glass in plum, cranberry, blue, green. lime and also some estate gold and silver items like Wedgwood. Sorry, but we do not offer international shipping. Thanks again!
