This is a rare and beautiful 1960 Chep Morrison for Louisiana Governor comic book published by the highly collectible Commercial Comics company headed by Malcolm Ater. Ater's company put out comic books for several candidates in the 50s, 60s and beyond. Many of the books were for southern politicians and contained pro-segregation content, and this one is no exception. Commercial Comics are much sought after by the collecting community.Chep Morrison was the mayor of New Orleans from 1946 - 1961 and ran for governor of Louisiana three times, including the 1960 race in which this comic book was used. He is a legend in Louisiana politics. In addition to detailing Morrison's plans as governor, the book also chronicles his life. The comic book is approximately 5 x 7 and contains 16 pages of bright and beautiful comics, as you can see in the photos. The only flaw I can find is a very minor chip in the front cover, as seen in the photo. Don't miss a chance to own this very rare and much sought after book. Both comic book collectors and fans of Louisiana politics should not let this item pass you by.
