Men Into Space is an American science-fiction television series broadcast from September 30, 1959 to September 7, 1960 by CBS which depicted future efforts by the United States Air Force to explore and develop outer space. The black-and-white filmed show starred William Lundigan as Col. Edward McCauley. The helmet was based on the show and allowed kids enjoyment to be like their hero on the show and follow the space race between the United States and Communist Russia. It was produced by the Ideal Toy Company. Ideal Toy Company was founded as Ideal Novelty and Toy Company in New York in 1907 by Morris and Rose Michtom after they had invented the Teddy bear in 1903. Made from white plastic, the helmet has a movable face shield that it tinted and also locks in place like a real space helmet. Colored logo of Air Force wings and Colonel McCauley name are also colored plastic that is bonded by heat to the helmet so it will never wear off like paint would. The helmet is in fair condition. It does have light scratches due to play from a kid. Interior vinyl head band is missing, and so is black, plastic, simulated microphone. The helmet was made in 1960, so considering that, it is in very good condition. This will make a great addition to any space, or sci-fi toy collector. Posted with eBay Mobile
