RARE 1960'S MASUDAYA "SPACE PATROL"TIN TOY WITH BOXUp for auction is a RARE tin space toy made by Masudaya Toys in Tokyo, Japan during the 1960's. The toy is titled "Space Patrol" and features a blue tin lithograph vehicle with a large fin marked with the NASA logo. The front of the vehicle has a plastic dome containing a plastic astronaut driver. It also has a pair of blue lights along the sides that are purely decorative (do not light up). I've seen several variations of this same toy, including one with red light covers and another with a tin driver. It has friction-operated rear wheels and the back end is marked with the Masudaya "MT in Diamond" logo. The toy measures approximately 6 7/8" long and 3 1/8" wide. It comes in its original box. I purchased this vintage space toy at a recent estate sale.Condition of this Maudaya Space Patrol vehicle is EXCELLENT. It appears to have been played with very little and the paint looks fantastic. The friction wheels operate properly and the vehicle will move across a flat surface. I see a few scratches on the right side just below the plastic dome (see closeup photo) and a few other tiny nicks. The metal ring around the dome has some discoloration. The box is intact but shows significant wear. The box lid has a tape repair on an inside corner. Overall, this 1960's tin space toy looks great read more
