Rare Omega Seamaster 30 14K Gold-Plated Mens WristwatchVintage Collectable- original 1962 model w/ 17 jewel calibre 286 manual wind movementMOVEMENT -Omega cal 286 movement-outstanding. (Omega used cal. 296 for the majority of the Omega 30 models produced; the '286' movement was used when the series was first released in 1962, dating the watch at ~53 years old. You couldn't tell by the way it keeps time though as if it is slow/fast at all, it is by a small enough amount that I can't accurately measure it. Reserve time was measured to be ~48 hours (originally advertised at 42 hours)CRYSTAL - Acrylic domed profile has some scuffing/minor scratching from wear; see picsDIAL - Although slightly faded over the decades, the simple and elegant Omega dial is in great shape. It features gold hour, minute, and second hands, hour markers, and the classic Omega logo. The bottom half of the dial features, in black, 'Seamaster 30', referring not to water resistance, but rather to the widely-popular 30mm Omega hand-wound movements. The words 'Swiss Made' do appear on the dial, but are difficult to see (or photograph) due to the shape of the acrylic crystal.CASE -14k gold-plated stainless steel case; the plating has chipped off some over time (see pics). The case-back features the famous Omega Seamaster design, along with an engraving: '61-65'. The engraving is consistent with the short time period the 'Seamaster 30' was produced, but I am not certain of its significance. If I had to guess, 1961-1965 sounds like a military enlistment to me. (07-13 personally)CROWN -Gold plated, smooth functioning crown; some wear over time (NOTE: No Omega logo visible)BAND/STRAP - Currently equipped with an 18mm, high quality 'Crocograin' leather strap with gold buckle. Included with the watch is the strap I originally received with the watch--a brown calfskin Hadley Roma leather band that has significant wear.GENERAL NOTES AND POLICIES- AUTHENTICITY IS GUARANTEED ON ALL WATCHES WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Regardless, great care is taken when packing and shipping each to ensure your complete satisfaction; packages normally go out same or next day with insurance via USPS Priority Mail.-Water resistance testing is not normally performed. Remember to always ensure that the crown of the timepiece is fully inserted and screwed down (where applicable) prior to exposing it to water. All of my watches are stored in cases in desirable, consistent environmental conditions with respect to temperature, humidity, and light exposure. Watches with battery powered quartz movements are typically stored with their crown in its outermost position to conserve battery life. To prevent possible damage, the crown will be re-inserted prior to shipping unless specifically noted or requested.-If there are significant functional or cosmetic flaws, they are highlighted in the pictures and description above. There is, however, a 12-picture limit and 'significance' is subjective in nature. Examples of significant flaws include any damage to the crystal or face, deep scratches anywhere on the timepiece, or excessive wear or scuffing on other external features.
