Pitman's touch typing course straight off Joan Harris' desk in the Typing Pool from the Madmen era VGC An incredibly well-preserved piece of commercial history in original condition - so evocative of the period. This spiral-bound period piece is: Pitman's Commercial Typewriting - A Progressive Course in Touch Typewriting by W. and W. Walmsley Published in London by Sir Issac Pitman & Sons Ltd. in 1963 The Fifth Edition The Jewel in the Crown for me is that it's intact with the Diagram of Typewriter Keyboard (front and back shown). One of those indescribable period items that are so characteristic of their time. Code on reverse B.563/647/1302/1307/1308/1315 M.22. Considering this item was in use, it's condition is amazing. I've found only one bent corner, and only the first page is torn off only 4 of 15 perforations. Slight yellowing and foxing commensurate with age. The book can be stood as a tent for practical use, it's printed both sides head-to-head, and contains many insights into the period with what seem now quaint forms of address. Many pages have handwriting and shorthand entries to type as exercises. 124 pp. 10 5/8" x 8 1/4" overall size. An incredibly well-preserved piece of commercial history in original condition - so evocative of the period.
