A little joke, if you do not mind. What is Blast White on both sides, has Jet Black Mirrors and is impeccably clean. Do you have a guess? This 1964 Washington that NGC graded as Cameo, but take a look in your hands when purchased, and you will see what I am talking about. This 1964 Quarter is a KNOCKOUT, and all proof coins should have this appearance, for we would never need pictures of our coins. The contrast does not come much heavier, and the mirrors no blacker. Usually a coin with this fantastic contrast and mirrors would get a Deep Cameo grade, unless you have a few instances where it will not happen. One is: You never send a load of the same date coin, in the same condition, into a grading company on the same submission form. Usually what then happens, and here comes that almighty dollar again; 2-3 will come back Deep Cameo, and the rest as Cameo coins. You then crack them out and re submit a few, and again pay the submission price, and now another 1 or 2 may come back as Deep Cameo, but you will never have all coins with the same appearance, and in the same grade, come back as they should. Yes, I know the grading companies are suppose to grade each coin on an individual basis, with no prejudice, but guess what?
