I have up for auction a really cool 1964 Ludwig Club Date project kit that unfortunately I cannot afford to restore myself right now---so I hope someone out there will take on the work necessary to bring this one back to life. It wont be very hard. All it will take is some cleaning and picking up a few parts. This description will no doubt be long because I want to make sure everyone knows exactly what is needed to get this thing back to its past glory, as well as what state it is currently in. I know it is a very desirable finish (and year) for Ludwig and I think it deserves to be put back to original. Therefore, please don't ask me to split the kit up. I will not. All drums have painted white interior and appear to have nickel plated hardware. No date stamps, but the serials are all in the 72xxx-73xxx range. Definitely born together in early 1964. No extra holes in any of these three drums. Seams are all tight. Very little fade. Just need a good cleaning and polishing/buffing. Badges are factory. Mufflers are both RED baseball bat. Finish is Black Oyster Pearl on all three drums. A 14 inch Club Date floor tom came with this kit but was badly treated. Someone had turned it into a concert tom---removed the old wrap which was red sparkle??---and drilled holes in it for 8 lugs around the batter side. They also thought it was a good idea to take the badge and muffler off and drill it for a TAMA tom mount---meanwhile losing the legs, lugs, and all other original hardware. SO I am going to auction that drum off separately since I don't consider it a part of this kit---and someone might be able to use it for another project. It would be a great shell to purchase if you are purchasing THIS shell pack because if you fill the holes, and re-wrap it in BOP you would have your 14 inch Club Date floor tom for this kit. That one is up to you though. 3 Ply Black Oyster Pioneer Snare ---Will clean up to be AWESOME. Missing one screw in the butt plate and missing both hoops. The original snares are included but they are pretty thrashed. Lugs will shine up nicely. Look at the pics of the bass drum lugs. One is the typical condition of all the lugs on all three drums in this kit and one is what they will look like with a little soap and water and light polishing. With a buffing wheel you could probably get them looking twice as good...maybe even close to new. When done this will be a NICE snare and probably worth what you will end up paying for all three of these drums. Throw and butt have some light rust but should be no problem to get rid of it with a little elbow grease. 8x12 Tom --One original hoop is present along with 6 tension rods. The hoop is nickel over steel as far as I can tell. A magnet sticks with authority. Mount is there but is missing the wing nut/tension screw to hold the tom on. A bolt is in it's place and works just fine but to my knowledge is not original. Otherwise all original and basically just needs a polish, a hoop, and some heads. A couple bumps and bruises on the bottom bearing edge from being without a head for so long but really not bad at all. No major gouges or anything. Should tune up just fine. Some minor snare rash that could be helped immensely by some NOVUS #2. 14x20 Bass Drum --One original hoop is present along with 8 Ts and Claws. The hoop has it's inlay in great shape. Paint is flaking pretty bad on the hoop and should be repainted...but structurally it is great. The claws are pretty rusty in spots, but should also clean up. The Ts are pretty nice. The cymbal mount is present but is missing the wing screw to tighten the arm down. The arm is not present. I cleaned up the rail mount a little and again this is a testament to how nice this kit could look when done. I didn't polish it at all just light cleaning. It already looks nice in my opinion. Both spurs and mounts are there. White paint inside the bass is kind of scuffed up. Not horrible though. Again, no extra holes in the 20/12/Snare.
