With articles dating between the Jomon Period (14,000 B. C. E.-300 B. C. E.) to the Late Edo Period (1603-1868 C. E.), it displays the evolution of Japanese artistic discipline and mastery. The collection outlines the pottery methods of regional earthenwares, decorative "maki-E" of gold and silver dust lacquer, "raden" mother-of-pearl inlaying and shippo enamel cloissone on metals.
