This is a very nice early 1964 Royal Doulton Mad Hatter Character small Toby Jug . I have seen 1970 character jugs like this one, but this is a nice early 1964 piece. The very detailed Toby jug has the head of the Mad Hatter from the story "Alice in Wonderland". The handle is the dormouse who is standing on the Mad Hatter's pocket watch which has the first letters of each of the 12 months of the year on the face of the watch instead of numbers. The back of his hat has the raised letters " MAD HATTER". The bottom of the Toby jug has " Royal Doulton Made in England" in a circle under a crown and below that it says "Mad Hatter, D 6602, Cpor 1964, Doulton & Co. Limited, Rd No. 917231, Rd. No. 46577, Rd. No. 10000, 592/64". The Toby jug is in MINT CONDITION with no chips, cracks or scratches . The character Toby jug measures 4 1/2" high and 4" wide. This MINT early Royal Doulton Mad Hatter Character Toby Jug would make a great addition to someone's Royal Doulton Character Toby Jug collection .
