C.F. Martin D-35 Acoustic Guitar (1965) The Good: This guitar was manufactured during the first year that Martin made the D-35 model. Very few have the plastic tuner keys from the earlier versions of this guitar. "Squared off" headstock reflects early run on the jigs that Martin used for making parts. Newer versions show a more rounded headstock from worn out jigs used over the years. Includes original hardcase and Martin literature of unknown origin. Sounds and plays awesome. The Bad: Yellowed purfling. Dusty inside. My dad used this quitar as a model for building a Martin kit guitar while I was away at college and somewhere along that line he left it in his shop where the conditions caused the fretboard and bridge to crack. See pics. Micro-fractures in spruce top finish. I cannot afford the work needed to return this guitar to it's intended glory. I am hoping that someone who appreciates the instrument will repair and enjoy it. Feel free to ask questions, I have done quite a bit of research on this guitar and am familiar with it's general history for the past 25-30 years. Thanks. D35 D-35 D 35 Martin Vintage Edit: The action at the 12th fret measures 3/32". The original measurement was made with a digital caliper reading 0.094 inches. If you want to do any booming bass, the saddle could actually use raising to reduce rattling. read more
