1965 Magnatone Typhoon X-20. brown color. these guitars are somewhat rare and interesting. born in USA. guitar plays similiar to a fender strat. lots of tonal options. tuners have been changed. there are now gibson single lined tuners ( from the 1970's) neck is straight and the frets are in good shape. knobs aren't original no breaks or cracks. no cracks near the horn. comes with a gig bag. Magnatone Typhoon X-20 Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1965), made in Torrance, Ca, brown finish, Appalachian poplar body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. This Magnatone Typhoon is an interesting 1960's solidbody, among the last to carry the brand. This line was launched in summer 1965; they are sleek little twangers, Fender inspired, dubbed the "Incomparable Magnatone Starstream Slimline (of) personalized electric guitars" This X-20 Tornado was the top of the line and combines original ideas with Fender-like elements. The contoured body is rather "Stratty" while the bridge, vibrato and electronics are more in the Jazzmaster/Jaguar mold. It's fairly certain that Paul Barth was involved in the Starstream design-the instruments share a "family resemblance" to guitars he marketed under the "Bartell" name.
