THIS MODEL HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED Danbury Mint Preview Society Edition In 1967, Chevrolet finally answered Ford’s wildly successful Mustang with the Camaro. It was a really good car, solid, well built and very good looking. As a result, it sold very well with 2 especially successful packages, the RS with 64,842 units and the SS with 34,411. One of the hidden models for ’67 was the Z/28. It came with a special 302 cubic inch engine, 4-speed Muncie transmission and devoid of nearly everything else. It sold only 609 units but what amazing cars they were. It had 209 hp and did the ¼ mile in under 15 seconds, on bias-ply tires. Danbury Mint has really done this car proud. It’s a ‘sleeper’ painted in metallic Marina Blue with wide black stripes lined with black pinstripes. This was a car offered before the Z/28 really took of a year later, so there are no special emblems or markings. All there is are the “Camaro” and “Chevrolet” scripts and insignias in chrome metal foil and the center caps on the rally wheels, (with redline tires), with “Chevrolet Motor Division Disc Brakes”. Attention to detail even comes down to the speckle paint trunk with jack tools and instructional stickers, taillight wiring and scaled trunk hinges.
