On Sunday, April 7th, 1968, Robert Kennedy took time away from his presidential campaign to make an unannounced visit to the riot corridor of Washington D.C.. This was days after the April 4th assassination of Martin Luther King . A friend of mine, then an architectural photographer, was also t, taking pictures on his own of the riots' aftermath. When Mr. Kennedy appeared, my friend was able to take some photos of him as he walked the streets. In this photo, he is on 14th street. This is an original candid, unpublished photo taken just 2 months before Mr. Kennedy's assassination. It measures 7 1/2" by 9 1/4", trimmed down from 8" by 10".
