1968 Vietnam War Safe Conduct Pass (AU) Grade: Almost Uncirculated , yellow-orange w/ flags of seven allied nations on obverse. North Vietnamese soldier surrendering at right, Picture of South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu at left on reverse. Safe conduct passes have been used in every war in recent history and are considered to be an extremely powerful form of phsycological warfare. The passes originally contained the flags of five allied nations; the United States, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia and South Vietnam. In 1967 the flags of two new allied countries, Thailand and the Philippines, were added to the original five flag face. This particular pass is the much more rare version released in 1968 on which a photo of South Vietnam president Nguyen Van Thieu was added at left on the reverse. The text on the face is in English, Korean and Thia stating " Safe conduct pass to be honored by all Vietnamese Government agencies and all Allied forces." This pass is a rare and fascinating piece of American history and will make an excellent addition to any collection. Scan is of the note you are bidding on.
