1969 First Printing I KNOW WHY THE CAGED BIRD SINGS Maya Angelou HB DJ Album Album Album Album Here is a first printing of Maya Angelou's classic book, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings." It was published in 1969 by Random House. The overall condition of the book and its dust jacket is very good to excellent.The hardcover book is 282 pages long. The interior pages are clean and have a red edge on the top. The binding is tight. A previous owner wrote her name in permanent marker on the first blank page of the book. The hardcovers are a black fabric with gold lettering on the front and the spine. At the bottom of the spine, the word "Random House" and its symbol are in red. With protection from the dust jacket, there is very little wear on the covers and the lettering is bright. However, on the lower right hand side of the front cover, there is some sort of dried residue. It looks like glue, but I'm not sure. I haven't attempted to clean it, and I honestly can't imagine how it got there.The dust jacket, for the most part, is clean and bright. There is a little wear and a tiny tear on the top edge of the front cover. There's a little bit of paper loss at the top and bottom of the spine. On the back cover, there's ever-so-slight wear top and bottom. On the front inside flap, there are two strong vertical creases. The original price,
