This Gerber Mark II bearing serial number 12108 is a late 1969 production. The blade is a high gloss narrow wasp, without serration, and is made of forged L6 high carbon tool steel. The blade only shows very light sheath scuff, is full and appears to have never been used or sharpened. The gray Armorhide handle has at least 99% of its original finish, black painted hilt and pommel included. The wrist thong lanyard hole looks un-used as well. The brown leather sheath is supple, tightly sewn and looks as near mint as the knife. It is equipped with its original leather leg tie that appears un-used as well. The hold-in snap has full black paint and does not appear to have any wear to its finish. One thing I have learned about the Gerber Mark II is that the only thing set in stone is Excalibur in the Gerber logo. This knife has an obvious 5 degree cant/offset and the sheath has the transitional left hand hold-in strap. Its former owner/collector didn't have the answers either. Possibly t were some offset handles still in the bins as well as the newer sheaths that would start the 1970 design. Whatever the case, what you see is what I have to offer.
