1970 Franklin Mint America in Space 1st Edition Sterling Silver Proof Set in good condition. This is a 25 Coin/Medal set. All of the coins have some toning. It also has the extra Apollo II coin which has the correct mission date. No reserve. These were minted in 1970 by The Franklin Mint to pay tribute to the men and women of the aerospace industry, and to honour the astronauts who participated in America's exploration of space.Contained in the set are two subsets, illustrating unmanned flights (early rockets, satellites and probes) and Manned flights (from Mercury III to Apollo 11) These are pure Sterling Silver 39mm medals and were minted with proof surfaces. Each collection of 12 medals contain approximately 9.7 troy ounces. The 24 medal set contains approximately 19.4 troy ounces and then add the additional coin to make it approximatley 20 troy ounces.
