This week I am pleased to present at auction, without reserve, a "high grade" hand made pipes by Ed Burak CONNOISSEUR Pipe Shop in New York City, crafted in the period 1974 to 1981 You are bidding on a gorgeous, and pre-smoked condition, or better, barely used, medium sized, a Freehand pipe crafted by Joe Cortegiano or Tony Pesante master carvers for Ed Burak's "Connoisseur" Pipe Shop, located at New York City, United States. The type of nomenclature indicates that it has been produced during the period 1974 to 1981. It's a slender "Zulu" shaped, and shows an amazing grained "Straight Grain", weights just 29 grams, in excellent condition, it's almost like a new pipe by The Art of Edward F. Burak, Dean of American Pipe Designers (This article is an excerpt taken from ) Ed Burak is the dean of American pipe designers whose work has had a worldwide influence on the thinking and the work of contemporary pipe makers. Born in the Bronx, New York in 1943 , his first love was painting. His promise as an artist led to a scholarship to the School of Visual Arts. In 1966, needing to have a Meerschaum pipe repaired, he met and subsequently began working with Meerschaum master Paul Fisher, with whom he stayed with for 5 years. During that time he produced a small number of Meerschaum pipes, a few of which are still extant in collections. read more
