This beautifully crafted Danish porcelain plate was designed by the artist, Henry Thelander . The Bing & Grondahl Copenhagen collector plate is dimensional and tactile with the image embossed in relief and hand painted in shades of cobalt blue under the glaze. Mor's Dag 1972 (Mother's Day ) is impressed in the mold at the base of this endearing scene. Each plate in this enduringly popular Mother's Day series features an engaging scene with a mother from the animal kingdom nursing or sheltering her young. The 1972 plate features a foal (baby horse) suckling her mother (the mare) in a grassy pasture. The nostalgic scene on each plate in the series expresses the bond between mother and child.
