WELCOME TO SALLY'S DIARIES:Although this diary is usually a lot later than I normal buy, and there are only 91 days of handwritten entries, it's so charming and gives the reader a great look into the life of a young woman attending MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in 1972. But more importantly, it gives you a great look into the life of "young love." She does write down her name but because it's only 43 years old I thought I'd leave her full name for the winning bidder. I can tell you that her first name is Flora and she becomes totally smitten (or as she would put it "in love") with a boy by the name of Pancho or as she later calls him "Gianfranco." In the summer she gets a job as a seamstress at a place in Fall River Massachusetts called "Cherry's" and she gets her elevator license so she can run the elevator in the store.As you can see the diary was kept in a Kahlill Gibran diary and it's in excellent condition and measures about 6 ½" x 8 ½"; which leaves plenty of room for long entries. And even tho there are just 91 entries, most of them are quite long and very entertaining. I've taken several of them and shared them here.....1971"December 28 th , Received you today. I've never had a diary before. But you're beautiful and I'll try to be faithful everyday. My life, right now is pretty uneventful but I hope this situation will change. Will close until tomorrow.""December 29 th , Today is Renee's birthday. She's 3 today and very grown-up I'm sure. Chickie called today too. I'm going to her house Friday. See how exciting things have been for me? I was thinking today how lucky I am. My parents love me and I love them and sometimes that's all that matters. Everything is so funny here at school. I don't understand. God, I wish I did. Why do things happen to me like this. I get involved with people and then they forget. This is not a man either. I told myself that after my close friend isn't my close friend anymore (Sandra) I wouldn't get really close to anyone else. But, gullible me did and now I'm sorry. At least I've only know her for 3 months, so it's not like a few years. But I couldn't help thinking that she was my friend. Will I ever learn? Will I always be hurt emotionally? But anyway, things seem to be really good. Great time. Can't wait until next week-end!""March 25 th , Got up at 10. Went to see Godspell at the 2 o'clock matinee. It was fantastic!! Had a great time. Went out with 4 guys and Ijeoma and Jean. Bruce is in Kansas . Pancho was great though. I like him too. The guys were good, the night was good. Went to Casa Columbia and then the Fatted Calf. Got to bed at 4:30.""April 17 th , Heard from the guys. Actually Juan called Ije and heard that Pancho called to see if we got home ok but he couldn't get through. I found out that Pancho likes me. I'm still holding off, but I'm glad to hear it. All I have to do is hope.""May 3 rd , Today is rainy and cold. Thank God I could get work done. Friday is close, I can't wait, I'm so excited. Dear God, just help me this weekend. I need this weekend to be really great for me. I like Gianfranco and I could really go for him. And he's such a nice person. Great as a matter of fact. Handsome, sexy, full of humor, very intelligent, green eyes, polite and respects girls for what they are. Not bad at all.""May 5 th , Diary, so much has happened. I went to Lowell Tech's spring weekend. Friday night there was a carnival outside. Froze to death. Then went to Juan's apartment for a party. Pancho, excuse me, Gianfranco was really good. Danced all night. Moved from there to Edwardo's room. Played games. Ended up with a truth game. Things go really heavy there at one point. Daniell asked Gianfranco about why he came over last weekend to Newton . He said that Ijeoma told him I liked him and he came to find out and he said he did. At that point I was completely drained! We got to bed at 7:30, got up at 9." SCAN 6-7"May 19 th , Had my final in Marine Biology this morning. Questions were wicked but it was a really good test. Wrote almost a blue book and ½. Thank God, all of my finals are over with. I just have my review boards to go on Monday. Dury's surprise party is tonight. Called Gianfranco. He's coming. Got at the party by 8:30. Gianfranco got there around 9:45. The party in general wasn't that great. I had a great time though. It really is the company. I have definitely fallen in love with him. I can't stand him to go away for the summer. I can't even see him off at the airport. I'll be doing a lot of writing though. You wouldn't believe how much I cried after he left. One consolation, I see him Sunday. This is for the last time until August. If I was bad tonight, how will I be on Sunday? I can't stand it. Well, at least, it's only about 2 ½ months. I can't wait till August. Everybody here is saying I'm in love and you know what? It's true!!!""May 25 th , Woke up today at 2. Gianfranco much have gotten his card today. I hope he liked it. Can't wait to hear from him. Hope he enjoys his beer bash tonight. I think about him all the time. Now I know how mom feels when dad is gone for a long time. I can't stand it. Big news, my underwear was stolen off the line by some pervert. Hysterical. Mom can be a real bitch sometimes. My car wouldn't start. Blames me for everything. Calls me unappreciative. Don't know what to do with her the whole summer. Ugh! Hope tomorrow's better. Dad'll be home. He'll help me fix it. We'll order my new one too. Yeah!! Dad'll be coming and Gianfranco'll be leaving. Boo hoo!""June 6 th , Got a letter from Gianfranco today!!! Now, I'm floating. I'm so up its unbelievable. Had a good day at work too. In addition to Gianfranco's letter I got a letter and book from Jean. The book was really cute. That girl is a nut and a good friend. Right now I'm listening to "Nena." Keeps me happy, remembering good memories. This letter will keep me up for weeks or until I hear from him again, whatever comes first.""July 2 nd , Ran the elevator all day today. Boy! Was it hot. Air conditioner broke down in the store. Diary, see how exciting a summer I've been having. Can't wait until September. Had a dream about Gianfranco. Didn't tell anyone else about it. Dreamt he came to visit me. Didn't' finish the dream. I'd like to know what happened in it. I wish that the dream came true and he did come to visit me. It won't happen, yet anyway.
