Hand painted German beer stein with pewter lid from the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Stein is 5 1/2" tall with lid closed and features a center picture and caption of the OLYMPIA TURM 290 M OLYMPIA-STADT MUNCHEN with the Olympic rings. On side view (in photo) t is a castle and it the words "Das Lieben Wir"; opposite side has a mountain inn and reads "Froh Beim Bier". Interior of pewter lid is incised "DBGM" and a diamond-shaped logo mark with the letters "DRM" inside; also the number "66". The bottom of the stein has the maker's name in gold but it is hard to read. It looks something like "Handomalt" with the numbers "26" and "19".The stein and lid are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear to the paint.
