THE EIGER, by Dougal Haston. Published in 1974 by Cassell & Company. First Edition. The north face of the Eiger is still one of mountaineering's big challenges, which the author conquered. He tells the story of the north face and the various climbing expeditions from mid 1960s when it was first climbed. Contents include: Eiger, north face direct, north pillar, Japanese summer direct, Japanese route winter ascent, Japanese on the Harlin route, north pillar direct, Japanese route third ascent, filming the fact, rescue on the Eiger, what now Eiger? Many photographs and a two-page map showing various routes. Hardcover, with original dust jacket, and in excellent condition (dust jacket is price clipped).
