This CROSS comes complete with the original small 1974 information brochure that tells a delightful story of the cross and the 1974 dated jewelry bag. All these items together combine to make a RARE find for the collector. This versatile cross can be worn as a pendant, used as a Christmas tree ornament, hung in a window or used as a charming decorative piece in the center of a wreath. In the year 1971 Reed & Barton proudly introduced the FIRST IN A SERIES of annual CHRISTMAS CROSSES in richly detailed STERLING SILVER. The 1974 cross is a stylized reproduction of an ancient and elegant Cross that adorns the top of Funchal Cathedral in the capital city of romantic Madeira Island. Note the floral design.In 1974 Reed & Barton announced that at the end of the production run, the dies would be destroyed, thus assuring the owner of a valued collector's item and that each year tafter another limited edition CHRISTMAS CROSS would be produced.
