1974 Road Operators Safety Council 5 & 8 Year Driving Award Medal & Ribbon Please note that the photographs show parts of the item as being larger than in reality . The ROSC was started in 1955 to promote road safety and prevent accidents amongst owners and operators of road transport vehicles. To the top of the ribbon there is a white metal bar, recessed to the front and with a textured finish to the recess; this bar contains the date 1974 ; to the back of the bar there is a pin badge fitting; there is a metal loop which holds the top of the ribbon. The ribbon is in a green material with descending red triangles; to the middle of the ribbon there is a Safe Driving badge in a chrome like finish metal with an applied red enamel traingle bearing the details ROSCO SAFE DRIVING and an 8 YEARS plaque below; to the very centre of the front of the badge there is an in relief image of a steering wheel; this badge has a pin badge fitting to the rear and is pinned through the 'front' ribbon. There is a large flexible ring to the bottom of the ribbon, followed by a smaller flexible ring which attaches to a fixed ring on the medallion below.
