1977 Original ProductData Book This is a Rare & Unique Original 1977 Chevrolet Product Data Book which was only distributed to Chevrolet Central Office, Zone and Regional Office Service Managers and Field Service Representatives. Much of the very detailed service letters, bulletins, updates & specifications in the book were restricted to factory use only and these books were never sent to dealers. It goes far beyond the information that dealers received. Most '77 car & truck changes, procedures or problems are addressed in this book. This book is from a retired Chevrolet Executive. This huge book has Approx. 1500 pages in a locking post-bound dark blue leatherette binder measuring 10" x 11 1/2" x 4" thick and weighing over 12 pounds. Each section is divided by plastic tabbed pages. All models of 1977 Cars & Trucks are covered: Caprice, Impala, Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Camaro, Nova, Corvette, Monza, Vega, Chevette, Chevy Van, El Camino, Pickups and all other trucks. This was the 1977 Chevy Bible! The first half of this Huge book is divided into basic UPC Group Sections: Body; Frame; Front Axle & Suspension; Rear Axle & Suspension; Brakes; Engine; Carburetor and Fuel Pump; Engine Electrical; Clutch; Manual Transmission; Automatic Transmission; Fuel Tank & Exhaust System; Steering; Wheels & Tires; Chassis Sheet Metal; Electric & Instruments; Radiator & Grille, and Miscellaneous. All car & truck bulletins, letters, technical information, etc. were to be filed in these UPC Group sections by the owner and user of each book. Each UPC section, subdivided into sections & contains some of these items. (1) Technical Service Bulletins (goldenrod) which went to dealers & factory Reps , such as 77-T-52, "Oil Pump Leakage – 1977 366, 427, 454 Engine" and 77-T- 46 "Transmission Slips On Right Turn – THM 200 Transmission (Passenger Cars)". (2) TSBs that were (White/Yellow) These did not go to dealers. such as 77-T-1 “Two Piece Plant Identification Labels – 77 Passenger Cars” & P.S. Pump Brackerty – 76 – 77 Trucks. (3) Technical Information Pages (Blue) Did not go to Dealers & covered less frequent (but often more interesting) problems and changes not rating a TSB, like 77-I-42 "Maintenance Free Battery Diagnosis and Charging Information”. 77-I-60 “Red Dye Added to Crankcase Oil – HD Trucks” Some of these bulletins may appear Green in Photos due to a scanner problem (4) Chevrolet Product Assurance Bulletins. (White color) These were GM Restricted and issued only to Factory Service personnel. These did not go to dealers and contained some of the More Interesting information such as “Disc Brake Squeal – 1977 Chevrolet, Monte Carlo” and “Radiator Grille Wind Noise – A Body” and “Slow Hot Cranking – LC3 Engines” (5) Product Campaign Bulletins (PCB Red border) these were filed under the applicable UPC tab such as 77C06 “possible Rim Separation – K model Trucks” and “77-C-10 “Electric Choke Coil Switch Inoperative” (6) Product Emission Campaign Bulletin (PEB Green border) such as 77-E-02 “Air Injection Pump Hose Cracking” (7) Misc. Regional or Central Office Service & Engineering Letters : Items the keeper of the book saved. I saw several examples through out the book. THE SECOND HALF of the book is made up of two sections... Chevrolet Service News and Chevrolet Engineering Specifications: CHEVY SERVICE NEWS : Most of these are missing, The tab is here , but only the Index and one HD Truck News is here. CHE VROLET ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS : This was the internal reference for all Car model numbers, specifications, dimensions, component material descriptions, options and accessories. It wasn't sent to dealers , is very technical and is loaded with great info for us today. All cars are covered in extreme detail, with separate sections for the Full-Size Chevys, Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Camaro, Corvette, Nova, Monza, Vega & Chevette, all of the pages are originals in this book.
