Offered here is an ORIGINAL SIGNED PHOTO BY FIRST LADY ROSALYNN CARTER TO HELEN COPLEY FROM 1978 .The photo features 3 women from left to right being Helen Copley, an unknown woman and then the First Lady Rosalynn Carter.The photo measures 6 in. x 9 in. in frame (likely from an 8 x 10 print) and is inscribed by the First Lady as:"To Helen Copley,Best Wishes -Rosalynn Carter"The framed piece measures 12.75 in x 15.75 in. and is in excellent condition. The piece is also dated on the rear corner verso as " 11/15/78 "Please email any questions -Provenance: James S. Copley / Copley Library -Followers of our inventory might note we originally acquired most of our James Copley material in 2009 & 2010. However, we recently learned one of the Copley homes inherited by David Copley (d. 2012) had family effects from both Ira and James Copley in the garage. We acquired a portion of that material when it was recently offered at auction in Spring 2015.This item is formerly from the collection of James S. Copley (1916 - 1973) who owned the Copley Press (comprised of 14+ city newspapers) and founded the Copley Library in San Diego California.James Copley was born in St. Johnsville, N.Y., in 1916. Both of his parents died in the flu epidemic that swept the U.S. in 1918, and when he was 4 he was adopted by Col. and Mrs. Ira C. Copley. Col. Copley read more
