1979 LIMITED EDITION NORMAN ROCKWELL "THE MARIONETTES" SCHMID MUSIC BOX In recognition of Schmid's established reputation as a manufacturer of fine music boxes, THE SATURDAY EVENING POST commissioned Schmid as the SOLE PRODUCER of this Collection Series of Norman Rockwell Music Boxes. Rockwell particularly enjoyed using period costumes in his paintings. He did so with a different twist in "Marionettes" which appeared on the cover of the POST on October 22, 1932 . Even though the marionettes are elegantly costumed in the eighteenth century style, the puppeteer could have stepped right out of the present day. This Fine Hand Painted Porcelain Music Box is sequentially numbered 728 of 2,500 pieces created in 1979. The music box plays " The Emperor's Waltz" and is in excellent condition. It measures 7 1/2" tall and weighs 1lb 2oz. Please see pictures for details. MSRP $145 has a similar Norman Rockwell Schmid music box for $74. This item is discontinued and rare to find.
