1979 Mexican Silver Onza - 1 Oz. of Silver - Lustrous Minted by the Mexican Mint, the Mexican silver Onza became the first silver bullion coin to be minted in one ounce sizes. Originally called Onza , these Onza coins are legal tender, although no face value is displayed. The onza was first produced in 1949 as a medallic issue featuring a coin press on the obverse and a balance scales on the reverse. Onzas of this design were produced in 1949 and again in 1978, 1979, and 1980. This onza is lightly circulated with excellent detail and lustre.
