Offeredis a stunning Van Briggle LORELEI vase in high gloss cobalt blue. The piece was purchased from the Van Briggle factory in Colorado Springs . The bottom is incised 15 for the glazer's mark, 85 as the year created, along with the initials JC. The initials might possibly be for Joseph Cordova, known to have thrown originals in the late 1980's. Could also be the finisher's mark. The "Lorelei" design is the most widely recognized of Artus Van Briggle's original designs, showing a mermaid wrapping around the top rim of the vase with her body and tail draped around the side. The design is said to have been inspired by the legend of a siren who haunted a boulder near the shores of the Rhine River . She stands about 11" tall and is as elegant as the day she left the factory! No damage to mention. Please e-mail me with any questions prior to bidding.
