On offer, here, is a 1981 VINTAGE Russian Pepsi bottle & capRare & highly collectable ! I brought this back from a trip to pre-'glasnost' Moscow, in March of 1984.The label appears to have a date of 1981 on it, so it must have had quite a shelf-life ;]In those days, Russia was a bleak, grey, authoritarian & miserable place with practically no advertising or retail-therapy to enjoy. The only signs of 'western decadence' were booths found, here & there, on the sidewalks which offered just 'Pepsi' for sale, and were accordingly painted blue & red with the Russian 'Pepsi' logo. Russians bought their Pepsi and stood and drank from the bottles in the freezing -10 Celsius temperatures, and we were happy-enough to join them.Bottle is in good condition, with no chips. Cap is obviously bent from opening and has some slight rusting. The label is a bit pale but, then, it always was !We were followed everywhere we went by the secret police, on one occasion by the 'classic' guy in a long leather coat and broad-rimmed black hat. A dead-giveaway, really, as ordinary citizens wore only the thinnest of blue Parkas ! Maybe they wanted their Pepsi bottle back ? A great souvenir of different times when the cold war was still, decidedly, frosty . . . and Russian 'consumerism' seemed an impossible dream, for those who lived there. * Don't delay - bid today read more
