VINTAGE 1984 56cm VITUS 979Beautiful Road RacerIn the mid 80's Vitus 979 bikes were the mac-daddy aluminum bikes to ride. I didn't have that kind of cash so I rode a Cannondale. One of my buddies road a Vitus and I was always looking at it and dreaming. I bought this one in the mid 2000's way after they the bike world had passed them on. I found that they still provide a great ride AND people stop to look and comment on them.Frame has purple anodized (not painted) tubes with polished silver aluminum lugs and a worm drive seat post clamp. The wheelset is Wolber aero profile rims, with different model stickers.Made in Franceseat tube 56cmtop tube 56cmrear dropout spacing 126mmBottom bracket: ShimanoCrankset: Shimano 600 175 mm 42/52Pedals: Shimano Dura Ace 7401 cliplessDerailleurs: Shimano 600 tri-colorShift levers: Shimano 600 tri-colorStem: Shimano 600Bars: Cinelli Giro Italia 42 cm ctcBar wrap: Cinelli cork, greyHeadset: Shimano 600Seatpost: Sugino fluted 25.0mmSaddle: Sella Italia Turbo, greyFreewheel: Shimano Dura Ace 7 speedWheels: Wolber tubularHubs: Shimano Dura AceTires: Continental Sprinter Gator 700 x 25c tubular (new)Chain: Shimano IG narrowBrakes calipers: Shimano 600 tri-color single pivot front and rearBrake levers: Shimano 600 tri-color
