For auction only ,B.M.W M535I 1985 (C Reg) Automatic in rare metallic green I have owned this car since 2004, it came with a massive amount of history, I bought it as a project but I have since been diagnosed with an on-going neurological illness which prevents me from doing much in the way of manual work these days so this project has had to stand for the last 5 years, I’ve ifed and R’d about selling the car because I like to see a job through to the end but I’ve watched it deteriorate over the last 5 years and I have now made the decision to part with it preferably to someone who would have the time to do all the work to put it back on the road or to break it to repair others. There is loads of work to do on the body and it may possibly be beyond economical repair in some peoples eyes but for a person who has the time, know how and the space it could be done and my view is to save these E28 M535I’s from the crusher if at all possible as they are getting harder to find these days. The Photo's are from 2008 as you can see but nothing has changed, I will take & upload some current photo's this weekend. The Good Bits First Engine The Engine is in perfect condition, starts fine, pulls like a freight train doesn’t rattle, knock, smoke, overheat or leak oil etc and was serviced before it was laid up, IE: oil, filter, spark plugs, dist cap, rotor arm, air filter and coolant has been flushed and new anti freeze added twice in its time standing to prevent corrosion of the cooling system. Automatic Transmission The auto transmission runs absolutely perfectly, it is the electronic version of the ZF 4HP-22, with the 1-2-3, economy and sports modes, the transmission was completely flushed through, drained of oil, strainers and sump gasket replaced and refilled with new Dextron ATF transmission fluid before the car was laid up. Exhaust System The exhaust system centre section has been replaced this was the most expensive part of the system. The rest of the system is in good serviceable condition. Interior The interior of the car is mostly stripped out but I have all the parts with exception of the glove box lid. The seats are electrically operated black leather comfort seats, functions are (1) raise and lowering of head rests. (2) Reclining back, (3) Raise & lower of front of seat (4) Rise & lower of back of seat.The dash is in good condition without the usual cracks; all functions operate on the instrument panel including service lights, rev counter & economy meter (the usual offenders). There is an on-board computer fitted, cruise control, electrically operated tilt & slide glass sun or moon roof as it is sometimes called. The carpets have been removed to expose the extent of the corrosion of the floor pans (See Bodywork Description). Bodywork Description There is corrosion present in the following areas. 1) Bonnet The bonnet has corrosion on the front tip from the driver’s side edge to the badge. 2) Sills Both n/s & o/s are excessively corroded under the body kit. 3) Boot Floor The boot floor has excessive corrosion on the boot floor due to years of water ingress via either boot seal or rear lights. 4) Rear Sub-frame Mounting Bush Area There is an area of bodywork above the rear sub-frame rubber mountings which I believe to be corroded around the retaining bolts, it can’t really be seen but can be felt with your fingers very awkwardly but I thought I’d better check having done the same job on an 88 520i I know that the whole sub-frame, diff, suspension etc has to be removed for a full inspection and major repair. 5) Front n/s & Front o/s floor pans The carpets were removed for inspection of the floor pans as there are noticeable poor welding repair visible from underneath the car and upon inspection there is excessive corrosion on both sides. 6) Inner Wing o/s The o/s inner wing has co... read more
