Here I have a 1995 Faux Rookwood #6402 Cat Paperweight.Numbered 67/500.In a dark chocolate satin brown color.Measures approx. 4-1/2" tall.Although the original Rookwood paperweight #6402 is from the 1930's,this is a reinvention or ?Not really sure about it's creation.The bottom is quite a bit differentfrom the original, as you can see.Practice piece ???It is marked 67/500, 1995and 6402.Also some marks trying to make it look similar.There is a 7/8" hole filled with yellow pottery. ???Although it has a satin finish similar to Rookwood,it's not perfect like a Rookwood would beas there are some flaws.Rookwood has been reinvented through a collaborationof Rookwood Pottery and the University of Cincinnati artistsproducts and hand crafted in the US utilizingthe proprietary glaze and formulas.It possibly is a practice piece from a real mold. ??And later on there was also an acquisition of Rookwood Potterypreventing it's sale to overseas mfg.and was sought to return the companyto it's original artistic prestige, producing small quantitiesof Rookwood to maintain it's trademarks.I purchased this cat from a Cincinnati estatewhere Rookwood resides.I also purchased a piece from the new Rookwood Company.All are very nice pieces to display.Not trying to pass off as the real thingbut only a nice copy to display and admire.Buyer pays Shipping
