19C FRENCH NEOCLASSICAL GILT BRONZE ENCRIER INKWELL NR This listing is for a 19th century French gilt bronze inkwell or encrier. The encrier measures 4 inches or 10 cm high, and is 4 3/8 inches or 11 cm wide at the base. The encrier is tri footed and triangular in shape. The legs of the encrier have animal paw feet, above these are a man's and woman's face. The sides of the inkwell have floral swag. In the center is a round cartouche. At the top of the inkwell is a lift off lid. The lid is round and it also has a face on it which mimics the body. The top lifts to reveal the original glass ink pot below. The bronze has a deep rich chocolate brown patina or color, which is all original to the piece. The encrier is in excellent condition.
