This is a historically important and Very RARE 19th c. American Folk Art Primitive Native Indian Copper Weathervane, depicting an East Coast Indian with a feather headdress and reed skirt, likely modeled after an Algonquin of Iroquois warrior. This weathervane was acquired in Los Angeles, California, but it probably originates from the Northeastern United States. Likely dating to the late 19th - early 20th century. Approximately 28 inches wide x 32 inches tall. Good condition for age and use, with an honest old patina of verdigris, weathering and oxidation. Some edges of the weathervane are slightly bent, including the tip of the arrow (please see photos.) If you clicked on this listing, You Know how rare original old Indian weathervanes are.
