Antique early 19th century Regency period J & W Ridgway sucrier / covered sugar bowl . A very fine twin handled bowl with the unusual butterfly finial to the lid painted with flowers with a blue ground bands finished with profuse hand painted gilding . It measures 150 mm / 6 inches in height and 190 mm 7.5 inches across the handles . Marked in red with the pattern number 2 / 893 and dating from around 1820 . In great condition no chips or cracks and hardly any rubbing to the gilding not bad seeing it is nearly 200 years old . The same pattern 2 / 893 in the Geoffrey A Godden book Ridgways Porcelains page 94 plate 100 . A gorgeous sucrier from a very underated company whos quality of porcelain was as good as anything else being produced at the time . Thank you for looking .
