Here is an interesting miniature oil painting on wood board of French Cavalry soldiers. Painting measures approx. 6" x 4" not including the frame. It has a tag on the verso, Parlementaires, which I believe means elected officials. Maybe this has some sort of political significance? The paint is a bit dirty and it needs cleaning, the details look like they are there and the colors are probably very nice, but it is a bit muted at the present moment. When I found it, it was covered in dust, so that gives you an idea how dirty it may be. The painting technique looks to be rather impressionistic and it is well painted. Interesting painting, one of two to come out of a good old Chicago estate.
