This is a very special antique cane. I know I am starting to sound a bit redundant but all of the antique canes I have picked up lately have been phenomenal! This is no exception. The carving of the Snake on this Ivory handle is as detailed as you could want. The fact that the tail that protrudes out from the handle has not been broken is a miracle in itself. The knob portion of the handle has the deepest dark honey gold patina that I have seen in some time if ever. It is so deep it looks as if there is a layer of glass over that portion of the handle. The edges almost look as if they were drawn on to the handle. The solid Ebony shaft is in excellent condition and is finalized with an Ivory ferrule with a small but intact crack. This is one very important antique cane that was no doubt commissioned and had crafted for a person of means. The person who carried this piece new how to maintain a fine stick as well. This is a superb piece. More photos upon request. Dimensions: Total Length: 36.5Ã,Â". Handle: 4.4Ã,Â" length.
