A stylish 'mantique' desk object! Dating from the late Victorian period it is a pounce pot or ink sander nicely carved as a rearing bull but I have used it as an attractive paper weight. Well observed with good detail and knotty muscle tone. I suspect it is either bronzed spelter or possibly bronze I am not sure and it stands upon a round turned treen base. There are five large holes on its back for the sand to pour out and a hole in its belly to fill it. The bung to seal it is missing. Condition is very good, very nice patina and only a little split in the treen base. Stands about 4 inches tall. Weight- 180 grams.
