Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain VaseCirca 19th CenturyThe designs on this vase consist of large cartouches with children in a landscape setting with a pine branch overhead. The areas between the large cartouches are decorated with Hou ou (phoenix) birds in smaller cartouche shapes. The interior rim of the lip is decorated with leafs and rabbits or hares on opposing sides.White porcelain ground with under glaze cobalt blue. Enameled green, purple, yellow, peach and red. Applied red and a touch of black paint, gold details. Various symbolic designs were incorporated on the blue ground, such as chrysanthemums, etc. The lip has two chips and there is a hairline crack starting from half up the body, to the lip, over and down to the end of the neck inside.
