This is a medium sized 19th C. wooden firkin with original copper nails, excellent construction, signed on it's lid--I make out the Mass. part of the impressed-stamped signature, looks to be a possible So. Hingham, Mass. signed firkin! It is in it's early and original dark maroon red color (some might call it a burgundy), stands approx. 9 7/8" tall, with a diameter of 8 7/8" across the lid--not counting handle in upright position. I see one tiny nail replaced on lid, there is also a stable shrinkage crack that goes around partial way on top band of lid. I see some minor chipping on two of the fingers at the tips (one on the lid finger and the other at bottom band finger tip). Normal and very minor wear, as you would expect to see on a primitive of this age! Otherwise, sturdy and useable, great original untouched dry surface--would make a fabulous addition to any collection! Shipping will be $12.00 to include careful packing with insurance. Sold as-is, because of it's vintage nature, please ask all questions before bidding. Thanks for looking and
