Please note. We are offering a nice group of decanters and will be posting a number of 19thC glasses on June 22. The glasses include a set of four matched Pittsburghs, a deception or toastmaster's, taverns and more. You are reviewing a beautiful decanter made in the Pittsburgh glass district in the mid-nineteenth century. It is about 8 3/4" tall or 11 1/2" tall with the stopper. The stopper is original to the piece with the same designs cut into it as the body of the bottle. The neck has a stopper or ground finish as does the stopper itself. It has three smooth applied rings around the neck andd the base or foot is appliecd. This one has a bold design of large circles cut around the center of the body with elliptical designs around the base and cut "petal" designs coming down the shoulders. In addition, there are fine rings cut around the body, two above and two below the center circles. In addition, the three applied neck rings are ornately cut. The base or foot is applied and has been ground with a design cut into that. CONDITION: This decanter is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, breaks or stain. It does have a flat chip on the outer edge of the squared lip and a chip on the end of the stopper (which is hidden when in the bottle). Otherwise, this is bright, clean and a big bold decanter.
