1st EMPIRE, FRENCH NAPOLEONIC LIGHT INFANTRY CARABINIERS. Zinnfiguren or flat lead miniature toy soldiers, hand painted on both sides and showing back and front of all the figures, 40 pieces in all. Nice vivid colours. Approx 2 inches (50mm) tall to the plume top. #6287 EX SWISS COLLECTION BÄUERLE These flats are from the OLD German firm of Heinrichsen and are from a Swiss collection and pre date 1939 Napoleon inherited two French Carabinier regiments of heavy cavalry (the two most senior cavalry regiments in the army), which gained some prestige in his wars. In 1810 French Carabiniers were equipped like cuirassiers with helmets and breastplates (though these were of brass and brass-skinned iron), and were no longer equipped with carbines.
