This auction is for 2 Alliance Ohio embossed bimal beer bottles. The first is a T. A. Ballou Brewing bottle. Front embossed T. A. BALLOU, ALLIANCE, O. Back bottom edge embossed D.O.C. D.O.C was D.(Dominick) O. Cunningham Glass Co., Pittsburgh, PA (c.1882-1931). A prolific producer of soda bottles, especially hutches. The mark seems to be seen primarily on hand-made bottles manufactured (generally speaking) before about 1910. About 9" tall. Several seed bubbles in glass. Bottle is in good condition with one flea bite on lip but no other chips or cracks & nice shine on glass. The second is a bimal aqua Alliance Brewing Co. beer bottle. Front embossed with THE ALLIANCE BREWING CO., ALLAINCE, O. Bottom embossed R G & B Co, 45B. R.G. & B. CO was Rhodes Glass & Bottle Company, Massillon, OH. (1901-c.1919). This mark and the following variation is seen rather frequently on bases of amber and aqua beer bottles from cities in OH, PA, IN, MI, WI, and MD and probably other states as well. An obscure company which is virtually unknown to bottle collectors, nevertheless quite a number of bottles were manufactured over a period of almost two decades. The name of the company seems to have changed slightly at some unknown time during it's history, with the "&" being omitted. About 9 ½" tall.
