This auction is for an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS SHOW QUILT...a 1920-30's BASKET OF FLOWERS APPLIQUE QUILT in PRISTINE CONDITION!! The pictures were taken on a rainy day and are kind of dull looking---not, the quilt...It is GREAT looking! This is a large quilt measuring 78" x 90" and has beautiful needlework...T is applique on applique and the applique pieces have been hemmed by hand and applied with nearly invisible stitches..The hand quilting is also fabulous with tiny, neat stitches at 9 stitches per inch (one side counted)..The ground and backing of the quilt is off-white muslin..The only flaw I could find are light fold lines on the back side only...This quilt has been extremely well cared for...I doubt it was ever used or washed..T is thin cotton batting with cotton seed fragments seen when the quilt is held to the light..T is a 1/4" blue binder which has been hemmed on the front and hand stitched on the back..The edges have a nice scallop to them..The colors are beautiful using light and dark yellow-gold, pink and blue..The woven basket is green as well as the leaves and vines..The vines are flowing with flowers all around the quilt with a floral bouquet in each corner (looks great on the bed)...The hand quilting is beautiful and done in diagonals one inch apart rising from the center to the top in a V shape and downward from the read more
