Said considerate individual, i - in this case - offer this United States Treasury Minted Saint Gaudens Double Eagle $20 Dollar Gold Piece Purchased from a dealer of average repute in late 2009, this coin has, in my possession been cared for gingerly, just as i handle my comic book collection. Know this of me and of me this only need you know: I am not here to get YOU to buy all manner peddled wares off of me. I'm just here to sell MY coins to whomever needs them. My words of caution are my chance to avenge all of us who come looking for a square deal in life, only to get jerked around. Friendly advise: IF YOU ARE IN ANY WAY NEW TO THE PROCESS OF BUYING GOLD AND SILVER, AND YOU PLAN TO PUT ANYTHING MORE THAN 5 % OF YOUR WEALTH INTO PRECIOUS METALS, STOP RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE AND GET SOME EDUCATION. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "HOW TO BUY GOLD AND SILVER", "TYPICAL GOLD SCAMS" OR "INVESTING: BULLION VS NUMISMATIC" What i've got for you here is:1. Good advice on buying gold coins. 2. A good gold coin. I'm, not too concerned with whether you buy one of my pieces or one from some other seller. What does concern me though is the amount of deceit, fraud, counterfeit, underhandedness, outright lying, and general greed which pervades seemingly all areas of the exciting and refined precious metals world. Know the following at the very least:1.) Graded, numismatic 20 dollar us gold pieces are among the potential greatest and poorest opportunities for investing.2.) A "GRADED NUMISMATIC GOLD COIN" is worth more than an "ungraded" or "common date" coin.3.) A coin is only truly "graded" if it has been evaluated, catalogued and sealed in a p lastic numbered case, probably with an anti-counterfeit hologram, etc. PCGS and NGC are the most highly regarded, widely recognized companies of this type.4.) If the coin you are considering buying does NOT come sealed, evaluated and graded in one of these rectangular cases, then YOU HAVE NO GUARANTEE WHATSOEVER OF THE CONDITION OF THE COIN, AND ANY SPECULATION REGARDING CONDITION ON THE PART OF THE SELLER IS NO MORE THAN JUST THAT; SPECULATION. You may go to sell your XF coin one day, only to descover that the condition is in fact quite worse than you were lead to believe. Therefor, it is generally not a good idea to pay much more for an ungraded coin than the value of the metal it contains. 5.)SO! Since dealers are aware that for a price, they can have a coin evaluated by PCGS or GNC, thereby increasing the value substantially, it stands to reason that a non-graded coin up for sale is likely NOT a candidate for "numismatic state" grading at this point in time. 6.) Anyway, unless you have AMAZING pictures to work with, and you have a VERY keen eye, you will likely have great difficulty in differentiating between many coins in the lower, non-numismatic realm. Everyone who has them is trying desperately on Ebay and elsewhere to convince you that there is something extra nice about the non-gradable coins they have laying around. They will say XXVL++ CAMBOHANOBO SUPER SHINNY EDGES - SLICEs CHEESE blah blah LUSTEROUS blah GORGEOUS! WHOOPYDOODAH!Okay?Now, my coins are decent. Not a one is in crummy shape, unless i say "crummy shape". If you are buying these coins, you should be buying them because this is a fantastic, quintessential part of american gold coin history and because you cant beat gold and silver for investments. Also, this coin is possibly the most beautiful American coin ever struck. No matter what angle you get into coins for, you should own one of these to inspect, show off, and handle, without a plastic case around it!Graded coins may do much better than non-graded coins in the years of turmoil soon to arrive upon us.
